After being postponed a week due to weather we were finally able to celebrate Mardi Gras in Pictou County! It was held at The Palace, above the Stone Soup Cafe (who catered the event) and was a super fun time.
Greg was decked out in the finest mish mash of Frenchy's attire and I was a bit more modest just wearing lots of purple and a mask. While I didn't make the mask I'm wearing (below) I learned that having a mask on a stick is challenging and it's best to go with a mask on a string. Thankfully our friends came prepared with extra masks:
Snazzy friends (top), we made up a game: who can get three strings of beads on their bottle the quickest (bottom) - endless creativity at this table:
Headbanging in his grandmother's wig, really just showing how well it stays on. I was impressed:
There was a band, so there was lots of dancing, the food was amazing and we paraded around the room showing off our costumes. A colourful and very fun night!

Halloween Party
Like many others Greg and I had our Halloween party on Saturday night. Here's a look:
I made some pumpkins from styrofoam balls, yarn, acorns and a bit of hot glue:
Some of our costumed guests:
Greg went searching for old lady glasses and came back looking like a hipster, but it works! We went as Little Red Riding Hood and The Big Bad Wolf:

Runnning for a Cure
Last weekend a group of fine people got together to make the wonderful team the Neon Runners for the Fredericton Run for the Cure. I didn't know a number of these folks before the run so it was great to meet new people, have a nice run and raise monies for a great cause. The rain even held off until later in the day, hooray!
I'm pretty slow getting these photos up, but it's better late than never!
Thanks for a super awesome time, super awesome team!!! YAHOO!!

I mentioned Greg and I headed to Fredericton to check out the Harvest Jazz & Blues Festival but I neglected to post photos, so here we go:

There was also a guy in a chicken outfit, not sure what that was all about. |

Remembering Jack Layton
I stumbled across a link that George Stombolopolus shared on Twitter where you could download a mustache (a trustache) to place on your profile picture to show your remembrance/support/admiration/sympathy/inspiration of Jack Layton.
I don't like crying, so I put off reading his letter to Canadians but I finally did and needless to say I was moved.
We will be watching his funeral on CBC tomorrow and I'm sure tears will well up once again.
I am happy to be able to pay tribute and remember the man behind the mustache through something as simple as a jpg

15 Minute Visit
I'm not sure how this slipped my posting, tisk tisk!
My wonderful friend Rodd was stopping in Halifax just for a day on his way from Ontario to Labrador. Due to me leaving on a train for Miramichi we had very limited time to catch up. This resulted in an awesome (but much too short) catch up at the Halifax train station. Rodd literally just got in from the airport and I had to board my train, but better 15 minutes than no time!
A nice gentleman at the station snapped out photo, check out the amount of light that comes through the windows!
Rodd is an excellent photographer, in fact he has a website to show off his skills. Check it out: www.roddlaing.com

Last Day of School
Well at least my last day as a student (for awhile). I will hopefully have lots of last days of school in my *fingers crossed* employed future.
I was fortunate to attend the last class of the entire BEd program, hooray! Despite it being a 6 hour class on a Friday it was always a treat. For the last class our profs even brought us in a yummy chocolate cake and hilarious picture props to celebrate.
I'm posting those photos, but a few others from the last week of classes.
More pictures after the jump!

Amazing & Talented Friend!
I was leaving campus, about to bike home when I ran into a group of lovely classmates drawing for an Art class. It turns out that I was of suitable model caliber for a gesture drawing assignment and a very talented Alana put pencil to paper and 2 minutes later this happened:
Bravo Alana!
PS. Updates are coming from a fun-filled BEd weekend! I promise (Yasmin!)

Happy Birthday!
David Suzuki!
He turns 75 years young today and the CBC is celebrating it by having a special on his program The Nature of Things (which is 50 years young - amazing!). The show is on tonight so you know what I'll be busy doing!
You can check out the David Suzuki Foundation website and read all kinds of neat things and even send a happy birthday message his way!
Speaking of busy, that is what I have been. I started my second internship on March 14 and it seems my posts have stopped entirely with all of the busy I have been.
I have a new and hopefully reasonable goal. To have one post a week. I anticipate a weekend posting time but we'll see. Greg and I went to the Irving Nature Park (not an oxymoron) last weekend so I should really get my butt in gear and get those photos up. That will be a project for the weekend!

Last, Last Day of Camp
After 4 summers of working with awesome individuals at SuperNOVA I'm happy that my last, last day of camp was an awesome one. Things went smoothly, kids left earlier than early, the team worked together as they have been for the past four months and things came together with pizza, cake, awards and a sing-a-long (Smash Mouth and Britney Spears among the songs).
It's flown by, but this has been hands down the best summer ever!
Note the medals the staff are wearing around their necks - I have a post coming soon with the details of their creation!
Like I said, it was an awesome summer, an awesome day and I even received AMAZINGLY thoughtful presents from the team.
BEST SUMMER EVER!
