Dinner Party

Last weekend Greg and I made a meal to thank two lovely people involved in our wedding. We had the dinner at my parents house, it was pretty delicious if I do say so myself. Unfortunately I just have the table setting rather than any of the meal so you'll just have to use your imagination based upon the menu:

Mini-Honeymoon

To unwind after a very busy couple of days Greg and I headed to Wolfville for the night. We stayed at an AMAZING Bed & Breakfast (In Wolfville Bed and Breakfast), had amazing food, picked apples, slept in and enjoyed both the rainy and sunny weather.

For dinner on Sunday night we went to Privet House and we both had amazing meals. It's a cozy little spot with a very tasty menu.

This is the B&B we stayed in, beautiful right?

Despite looking older from the outside, we learned the house is only 12 years old. There is a lot of charm inside but with a totally modern feel. The bed is king sized and was SO comfortable!

There was a fireplace in our room, but it didn't throw heat it just looked really pretty in the evening.

Wolfville is a beautiful place, particularly in the fall.

We headed down to the water and the tide was out leaving lots and lots of mud!

As you do in the Valley in the fall we went apple picking!

In addition to apple orchards this U-Pick has roosters and pigs. I might have gotten the pigs a bit too excited trying to take a picture of them - they started oinking and grunting like crazy...we left quickly.

For lunch on Monday we went to The Port in Port Williams. This was another great meal, in addition to being a restaurant they are a micro-brew. Their bar was lined with hanging hops (blurry picture on the right) and if your beer wasn't hoppy enough you could ask for some hops to add to it!

A lovely view from our table inside, on a warmed day this deck would be the perfect spot to watch the tide come in and out.

Wedding Day!

Greg and I got married last weekend - hooray! There were lots and lots of photos taken, but I only managed to take a few - oddly there are none of Greg! To fill in such an important person I took to Facebook and borrowed a photo that Greg's Aunt Cheryl posted (thanks Cheryl!)

To rewind a little bit, we started our day at the hotel and kicked it off with breakfast:

A mid-hair shot at Life Salon and Spa, check out those waves (and mimosa!)

I am very excited to see the professional photos, but until then here are a mis-mash of lovely guests:

Dave, a thoughtful and generous friend dressed himself in a varied of plaids for the wedding. I couldn't miss this opportunity to highlight this fact and point out such a creative styling choice. Well done Dave:

My phone was borrowed for a little bit, unbeknown to me, and came back with this picture of two pretty ladies:

The best flower girl ever!

These four folks helped to decorate the hall, thank yoooooou for all of your hard work!

After the party closed down at the Boat Club we kept it going in downtown Halifax at the Foggy Goggle. Partying continued for another 2 hours and eventually we got sleepy, as Allison is appropriately demonstrating on the right:

All in all an awesome day despite a few showers earlier in the morning and early afternoon. Thanks to everyone who made our wedding day so special and unforgettable!

The Worst Email

For a mini-honeymoon Greg and I are spending a night in a Bed & Breakfast in the Annapolis Valley. The folks who run the B&B sent me an email to inquire if either of us have any dietary issues. Me being the unfortunate person I am disclosed my dairy allergies. The MOST unfortunate part of this whole thing is how I explained in to the Inn Keeper:

Yes, I wrote this and even sent it to a person who I do not know.

I only came upon this error this evening when looking back through the email thread. Needless to say Greg and I had a tear-inducing laugh over my poor, poor grammar. I have also learned a valuable lesson, two in fact:

  1. Multi-tasking while emailing can lead to dangerously embarrassing outcomes
  2. Read over every email before hitting send

I hope you too can learn from my silliness!

Miramichi Adventure Part 2

One of the reasons we were in Miramichi to begin with was to attend a wedding. The wedding was for our friends Nick and Becky, I went to school with Becky at STU and Greg grew up down the street from Nick. It's a small Miramichi-filled world!

The wedding was lovely, the one of the funniest Father's married the couple and the reception was super fun complete with live band and lots of dancing. Becky even took the stage and sang a tune or two, I learned she is a very good singer!

I took a few photos in the chapel but they were much, much too fuzzy. So here are a mish-mash of fun times from the reception, I haven't seen these ladies and gentlemen since our BEd. graduation last July:

Lynnette and I cleaned up the table in the last picture, by cramming everything into a glass...that's the best way to do it - right?

As per a Miramichi tradition, we headed to Ben's (a burger joint just down the street from the reception) and had our share of burger and fries:

Even the newly married couple decided to join us at Ben's, I love the picture in the middle. They definitely class up the place. Congratulations Becky and Nick, thank you for including us in such a special day!

Summer Wedding #1

*Click the photo on the left for MORE photos!*

Greg and I headed to Halifax this past weekend for a wedding on Friday and a show on Saturday night at the Seahorse. We made it to the wedding, but due to the extreme awesomeness of the wedding we slept much of Saturday and didn't make it to the show. Womp womp. When did this type of behaviour become acceptable?

I wasn't as snap happy as I typically am this past weekend, but here are a few from the wedding:

Myself and Ashley, the beautiful bride!

It's a bit fuzzy, but what the heck!

We met up with friends for lunch on Saturday and went to the Smokehouse on Argyle for meat, meat and more meat. I had a pulled pork sandwich that came with lots of pork, some veggies and french fries on the burger...I drew the line at the french fries.

After sleeping for about 3 hours on Saturday afternoon we pulled ourselves together enough to go out to eat, we went to Curry Village and it was AMAZING! Sadly, this amount of physical exertion resulted in a huge wave of sleepiness. After walking around a bit we decided to bail on the show and went to bed. Again, when did this change in my life happen again?

Wedding Invitation Fun

After lots of editing and lots of little changes Greg and I finally finished printing our wedding invitations.

In addition to that wonderful checkmark on our list today I got an iPhone, yippee! This is my first attempt at making a blog post from my phone, so hopefully I don't screw it up too much.

Well I DID screw it up, I couldn't add the pictures I wanted to directly from my phone so I had to move them to my computer before posting them. I'm assuming there is a shortcut that I'm just not aware about yet.

Anyway, here are a few nerdy photos of Greg and I addressing our invitations:

The Time We Got Engaged

This past weekend was particularly awesome, not only did I get to see some great live music at the Harvest Jazz and Blues Festival (post to come about that), hang out with great friends and enjoy beautiful fall sweater-weather but Greg and I got engaged.

Hooray!!

On Saturday morning Greg gave me beautiful flowers, a wonderful ring and a mimosa and pancake filled breakfast.

We had been working with a jeweler (Jeneca Klausen) from Saint John for the past few months to design the ring so I wasn't super duper surprised because I knew what the ring was going to look like and that a proposal was in my near future but I was very, very, very happy with how everything went.

Info on the ring: the band is silver, the setting is gold and the stone is a rough cut diamond. The band is pretty thick because of my less than dainty fingers and also I'm not a dainty person.

Since we've been planning this for awhile now we've been able to set a date for next September, near the end of the month. Hooray for fall sweater-weather weddings!

Thank you to everyone who's passed along their congratulations so far. We're pretty darn excited!!!

You can see more of Jeneca's work here.

Summer Wedding #4: Nancy & James

Congratulations to Mr. & Mrs. Agnew - these two sure know how to throw a party! After a lovely ceremony at UNB's Memorial Hall (like a church it has stained glass but lacked the other churchy-elements) the party headed to the Killarney Lake Rotary Lodge.

The BIGGEST wedding party for a wedding that I've attended.
They all looked so lovely!

Vacation Phase Three

Summer vacation was split into three phases this summer. The first was our trip to Maine, the second was heading to Fredericton for my convocation and the third was to Miramichi for an epic birthday party and a wedding.

The birthday party was a 50th for Greg's Aunt, Kitty. It was an all day adventure with TONS of food, drinks, washer toss, karaoke and even fireworks.  You can check out the karaoke display on the side of the shed, pretty ingenious I think:

Greg and I took a stroll downtown Miramichi and I spotted a very appropriate sign hanging beside the door of a law office. If you can't make it out it says "Gone fishing, re-open Monday"

The Irish Festival (which is a pretty big deal) was going on the weekend we were visiting, so we checked out the super decorated rink. There was dancing, moderate amounts of drinking since it was only early afternoon and lots of booths with people selling stuff.

The wedding was held right on the Miramichi River, it was a short but lovely wedding:

Greg and I took the opportunity to take a photo, you know since we were already 'dressed up':

The reception was held at the Rodd and for some reason I didn't take any photos other than of the sun setting, it was also really lovely, but my pictures don't do it justice:
